They Shoot Pictures, Don't They?
takes film lists seriously.
That is important to us because our documentary is all about the best film list of all, the National Film Registry
(though TSPDT- is an Australian site, so they might not agree). THPDT- fancies itself a film list resource that can
help you figure out "what to watch next."
Started in 2002 by Bill Georgaris and Vicki Platt, a couple of film addicts
from Adelaide, Australia, THPDT- is a labor of love and dedicated to the art of motion picture film-making, and specifically
to the film director's vision. They have a very extensive directory of directors along with a TSPDT director rating system
(examples: Darren Aronofsky - 6, Alfred Hitchcock - 10, Luis Bunuel - 10, John Hughes - 5+) and a list of the 1,000
Greatest Films (#2 Vertigo, #11 Tokyo Story, #1000 Kill Bill Vol. 1). If you're interested in Film Noir their list
and introductory comments can really make you an instant expert. Their section called,
"Ain't Nobody's Blues But My Own,"
is a selection of 250 mostly obscure, mostly overlooked, and/or mostly
unloved films, which they have identified "flying in the face of consensus."
This site is a fair dinkum corker!
